Introduction Demo: Kids Abacus class

Introduction to Abacus

  • WHAT

Abacus learning programme provides significant benefits to children in enhancing the learning skills, photographic memory, visualisation skills, increasing speed, higher concentration, attaining accuracy and proficiency in all subjects.

  • WHY

Their test scores are likely to be higher, their confidence is greater, and their opportunities in school and life can outweigh their peers.

  • HOW

The brain consists of two hemispheres, the left and the right. The left side of the brain is used for logical processing, mathematical functions, sequencing and linear processes. The left side of the brain is what is trained first when children are taught math traditionally. The right side of the brain is for imagination, visualisation, intuition and rhythm. When children are taught the abacus, it taps the right side of their brain.

FAQ

1. At what age can my child start learning Abacus?

An ideal age is 5-12 years to start learning Abacus and homeClass is best amongst the abacus online classes.

2. Well, he is 5, but I am not sure whether he will sit through.

Abacus is pure concentration. You should try some other kind of classes first to see if your child can sit through the entire session and then, may be, try enrolling him/her for Abacus.

3. What is a course duration?

Depends on each child's learning capacity. But it is not a crash course kind. It takes time to learn.

4. How long is each session?

Each session will be for 60 minutes.

5. How many levels are there in total?

There are 9 levels in total. You can see the chart above which details on the content too.

6. Why does it take so long to learn Abacus?

It is a mathematical process which needs time to be understood, practiced and built in the brain. Like any other course like dancing, music or playing an instrument, Abacus requires time to learn if your child wants to master it.

7. Can my child take more classes per week and learn faster?

At the beginner level, our teachers do not recommend fast pace. To grab the basic, you should give more time to your child to practice. Later, if he or she shows higher learning capacity, we will change to thrice a week instead of twice. The max is three classes per week and that can not be exceeded.

8. Is it important for my kid to know multiplication before starting Abacus learning?

It is not important to know multiplication. The teacher will teach addition, substraction, multiplication etc. in Abacus way in class.

9. How many students will be there in a batch?

A maximum of 10 students, who all will be in the same level(not necessarily the same age though).

10. Can my child start class anytime?

We start new batches in regular interval. If your child misses one, you may have to wait a little for the next batch to start. Else if your and your friends' children are a group of 5-6, we can start any day.

11. Can my child join in any level in between if he has done the beginner course elsewhere?

Our teachers do not prefer that. Each teacher teaches in their own method and a new teacher is unsure of that. To avoid such conflict in the Childs mind, it's better to start afresh. However, if your child has really progressed quite a bit, a fee-based assessment can be done by our teachers to see if he or she can be included in a senior group.

12. What if my child wants to take a break in between?

Your child needing a break should be analysed by you. May be he does not want to learn anymore. We recommend you find out the reason and if it is an obstruction you can remove, better to complete the course and not take a break.

13. What happens if he is unable to join a session due to some unavoidable reasons?

It can happen. If it is with prior intimation, then our teachers will help the child cope up. But as you can understand, it is a group class and missing too many classes is not a good idea.

14. What will I have to buy for my child to start learning?

A 17-rod tool, available in local toy stores or online, priced approximately 160/- is the only tool we require. It is required from the third session.

15. What if he doesn't like the class after I enroll?

You can opt out any time, but the fee is not refundable. So, if you have doubt that your child may not enjoy learning abacus, please decide accordingly.

16. Will there be a demo?

We understand that being a parent with little exposure to this new learning you may be confused and need to see how it works. We have shared a 5 minute video to let you know more about it. You will Get a good idea about how it is taught and what it is.

17. How many classes are required to complete one level?

Each level has 24 sessions to learn from.

18. Will there be any tests?

After each level, there will be a test conducted. There will be a test fee.

19. Will there be a certificate issued to my child?

Yes, at completion of each level, there will be a certification upon successful test.
