SASMO is one of largest math contests in Asia, started in 2006. Over 20,000 students from 19 countries competed last year.
SASMO competition questions touch upon both school and Olympiad maths. This combined content allow participants to do better compared to pure-Olympiad maths, Students are able to put on their thinking caps, bringing out their inner mathematician in them.
With realistic and high standards, SASMO contests aim to stretch the untapped thinking potential of the student population, their participation in SASMO will help them improve in school mathematics as well as higher order thinking skills (HOTS).

The Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) can help students in many ways, including:
The test is 90 minutes for all grades. Each level has a differentiated paper and contains 25 questions within 2 sections:
Section A: 15 Multiple Choice Questions (2 points for each correct answer; 0 point for each unanswered question; deduct 1 point for each wrong answer)
Section B: 10 Non-routine Questions (4 points for each correct answer; no penalty for wrong answers)
Total: 85 points (to avoid negative scores, each student will begin with 15 points)
SASMO is a tough competition and requires analytical skills and problem solvig attitude in kids, apart from good knowledge of mathematics. The non-routine maths is not taught in schools or other coaching classes. Even main-steam Olympiads do not have this kind of diffuluty level.
Hence, it is advised that students who have strong mathematical foundation and has higher order math resolving capability, to try out this competition.
The course should be well-covered in 40-45 sessions.
All the participants will receive a Certificate.
Students should start learning Olympiad exams writing techniques at a young age, if they want to start competing by Year 2. The basic ground work and clear fundamentals are important for competing in any Olympiads. SASMO will take more than ordinary learning and professional guidance is required.
There is a 5 step process laid:
Grade 2 to 4:
Grade 5 and 6:
Grade 7 (Secondary 1):
Grade 8 (Secondary 2):
