Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at support@homeclass.in if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) can help students in many ways, including:

  • Developing math skills: SASMO can help students improve their math skills, including problem-solving, and their understanding of complex math concepts.
  • Improving thinking abilities: SASMO can help students develop advanced thinking abilities and higher order thinking skills (HOTS).
  • Preparing for higher level competition: SASMO can help prepare students for higher level competition.
  • Identifying weaknesses: SASMO can help students identify and work on their weaknesses.
  • Getting familiar with international competitions: SASMO can help students get familiar with international competitions.
  • Receiving awards: Top performers receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards.

The test is 90 minutes for all grades. Each level has a differentiated paper and contains 25 questions within 2 sections:

Section A: 15 Multiple Choice Questions (2 points for each correct answer; 0 point for each unanswered question; deduct 1 point for each wrong answer)

Section B: 10 Non-routine Questions (4 points for each correct answer; no penalty for wrong answers)

Total: 85 points (to avoid negative scores, each student will begin with 15 points)

SASMO is a tough competition and requires analytical skills and problem solvig attitude in kids, apart from good knowledge of mathematics. The non-routine maths is not taught in schools or other coaching classes. Even main-steam Olympiads do not have this kind of diffuluty level.

Hence, it is advised that students who have strong mathematical foundation and has higher order math resolving capability, to try out this competition.

The course should be well-covered in 40-45 sessions.

  • PERFECT SCORE AWARD
  • GOLD AWARD for Top 8%
  • SILVER AWARD for next 12%
  • BRONZE AWARD for next 20%

All the participants will receive a Certificate.

Students should start learning Olympiad exams writing techniques at a young age, if they want to start competing by Year 2. The basic ground work and clear fundamentals are important for competing in any Olympiads. SASMO will take more than ordinary learning and professional guidance is required.
